He really is a funny guy... Here is the Circle C Meet Email -->
Stingray peeps! Sorry for not getting this email out yesterday as advertised. I’ve been recovering from an injured high-five hand after getting the Belterra results last night (finally!).
This email specifically pertains to SUNDAY’S (6/11) meet at Circle C. If you’re looking for info for Saturday’s meet, I sent that yesterday, so you need to tighten up your email-checking game.
This is a make-up meet for the one that got rained out in May. The details below are, for the most part, unchanged from when I sent this out in May, so I am going to cut out some of the “fluff” from a normal meet email.
We’re tracking a slightly lower turnout for this meet versus previous ones and versus the Saturday meet. So, if you plan on signing up, get to it. Time’s running out. We cannot take last minute entries.
Important Notes & Changes From Last Circle C Event Email:
- VOLUNTEERS. We’re hurting for volunteers this race more than normal. It’s a Sunday, back-to-back races…I get it. We still need people though. To quote my high school basketball coach, “nobody wants to hear your excuses!” He was a lovely guy to be around, very compassionate.
- HEAT. It’s supposed to be in the high 90’s both days this weekend. Bring water. Bring Gatorade. If you have access to an IV (and are licensed to administer it, I will ask for proof of licensure), bring that too. We’ll also have some extra coolers again with waters staged around the zoo. These are for anybody and everybody who wants one.
- CAPACITY LIMIT. Circle C is enforcing a capacity limit to the pool area and is asking us to go back to the Plaza Park (the area where the zoos are) after your swimmer’s race is done. No hanging out in the pool area, please. This includes the terraced area on the North side of the pool.
Location Details:
- This week's meet on 6/11 is at Circle C.
- Their pool is located at 5919 LaCrosse Ave. 78739. Additional info can be found here.
- Parking:
- There is no parking on Escarpment. If you park there, you'll be towed, and I’ll make fun of you for not even getting to, like, the 10th sentence of my email.
- Parking is available on LaCrosse, at the adjacent Circle C Childcare Development Center, and at Kiker Elementary.
- There will be a pick up/drop off spot in the plaza entry.
- No chairs for spectators in the pool area.
- No photos or videos from directly behind the starting blocks
- The DIVE CAFE will be OPEN. Kona Ice will also be there. They accept cash and CC.

Volunteers:
- [Insert generic attempt at begging for volunteers through the use encouragement, acknowledgments of appreciation for prior volunteer work, and misguided attempts at humor]
- As of 7am Thursday, we need the following:
- Zookeepers - 13 needed, across all age groups except 11-12 Girls and 7-8 Boys.
- Timers - 1 needed for 2nd shift
- Stroke & Turn – 2 needed for 2nd shift
As always, this was a lot to digest, and you’re having to do it twice this weekend. I appreciate you making it this far. If you were standing in front of me right now, I’d give you the best one-arm, double-back-tap bro-hug you’ve ever had. So, as a show of my appreciation, the first 5 people to mention the phrase, “Is that a Stingray in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?” when they check in on Sunday morning get a special prize for making it all the way to the end of my dumb emails.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to myself or any other Stingray Board Member or Key Volunteer with questions.
In the words of the late, great Mills Lane, “Let’s get it on!”
