The Night Before
Eat a carb-heavy dinner (pasta, rice, bread) with low protein
Go to bed early and get a full night's sleep
Meet Day
Prior to check-in
Swimmers
Eat a light breakfast: cereal and a banana, or an energy bar (especially if swimming early)
Drink plenty of water; some fruit juice is good. Avoid energy or sugary drinks and junk food
Pick out a book, game or toy to share with your new friends
Wear clothes or a coverup and sandals
Parents
Read Zoo Information and Behavior Expectations
Mark up your swimmer with a waterproof/permanent marker. Detailed directions (link)
Apply sunscreen to each swimmer
Print the heat sheet and bring it with you to the meet. Highlight your swimmers
Label all belongings; we have a Lost & Found
Discuss Zoo expectations with your swimmers
Pack it up!
For each swimmer:
Towel
Goggles (extra pair - optional)
Swim cap - optional
