Stingrays vs. SAAB this Saturday be sure to sign up
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls this Saturday, the Stingrays vs. the Barracuda's in the Stingray Arena (Capistrano pool). Don’t miss this Battle Royale of BLUE and PURPLE. Come watch as the Stingrays swim hard to defend their winning title, while our friends the Barracuda's fight for bragging rights. In order to see this event you must have your children registered for the meet. Parents must volunteer to make sure this is the most spectacular event in the South Austin swimverse. Home meets require significantly more volunteers on our part than when we are at away meets. So please sign up.
Please tell your swimmers to remember to show good sportsmanship to our neighbors, school mates and friends the Barracuda's. High fives at the end of a swim heat's is always best.
This meet is one of the best home meets we have of the year. We always look forward to hosting this event. Our theme for this weekend will be "Hawaiian" so grab your surfboards, your coconuts, grass skirts and leis.
Now is the time to go sign up your kids for the meet! To get this done, please head over to the Stingray website and navigate to the right hand side of the page and select the Meet Entry open tab under the May 20th SAAB at Stingrays. Your child's name should show up on the page. Click Edit - It is very important that you let us know if you child will be "attending" the meet or if they will "not be attending". You can sign up for 3 individual events and also let us know if your kids are available for relays by checking the box by the events your children intend to swim. Click the SAVE (this is important or you won't actually sign up) when you are finished. If you have a little Stingray(s), you might want to stick to only freestyle until they get an opportunity to work more on some of the other strokes. We want to build Stingray confidence! Please sign your children no later than this Thursday NOON (or declare that you will not be swimming this meet by checking the appropriate box). We will post heat sheets Friday evening and we will be ready for the meet to start promptly at 8:00 AM Saturday morning.
Marking up your swimmer
New to swim team and feeling adventurous? You can learn the “code” all the kids have written on them at the swim meets.
Zookeepers can "mark up" your swimmer, but you should learn how and feel comfortable doing it yourself after your first few meets.
Click here for an EXAMPLE on VIDEO.
We know that swimming is only part of your life so we know that you might not be able to come to every practice and every meet, but swimming is like everything else in life. The harder you work at it, the more proficient you get.
Finally, hopefully you have seen your new Stingray not struggling as much, don't give up. They will improve rapidly over the course of the next few weeks. This is the most important time to encourage them if they are feeling down.
I will leave you with this quote " The only difference between try and triumph is a little UMPH"
GO STINGRAYS GO!
If you have questions, please feel free to email me or catch me at the pool.
