Incident at the pool this evening
Dear Stingray Parents and Swimmers,
There was an incident during the 13-14-year-old practice tonight in our pool parking lot. NO ONE WAS HURT OR INJURED and the Sheriff was able to apprehend the armed suspect. The unidentified man ran through the Capistrano Pool parking lot and was chased and apprehended by the Sheriff.
Our amazing coaching staff was able to react very quickly and took immediate action to protect our swimmers. They moved the swimmers to the bathrooms that lock from the inside and were able to maintain the swimmer's safety. Once the incident was under control, the team was escorted out of the bathrooms and pool area. This incident was unrelated to the swim team or the Stingrays.
Please call Steve Hinojosa or Melinda Ferguson with any questions. We do not have more information than this at this time and will pass along details if we receive them.
