Stingray Families,
It has come to my attention that SAAB is asking that we have our meet entries in by Wednesday at NOON!! So please get those in today if possible. I will send out a reminder to those who I see are not registered. as for the meet this weekend please review the information below.
MEET INFORMATION FOR SHADY HOLLOW STINGRAYS
The South Austin Area Barracudas are pleased to welcome the Shady Hollow Stingrays to our home pool in the Villages of Shady Hollow at 12006 Gatling Gun Lane. We look forward to an enjoyable morning of friendly competition.
As per our agreement with the VOSH Board to use the pool for this season, I would like to share the agreed COVID Protocols:
- No spectating from the pool deck. To limit crowding on the deck, it is reserved for swimmers and volunteers. Viewing from outside the fence perimeter worked for our Fun Meet. Please be courteous to other spectators and rotate away from the fence between heats. I have included a slide below with the best viewing areas highlighted.
- Parents / Volunteers will wear masks at all times while on the deck.
- There is one entrance (Amenities gate) and exit (street-side gate)to the pool. We will have volunteers at the gates to remind folks.
- As agreed with the VOSH Board the swim meet will be split into two sessions - 10 and Under and 11 and Over groups.
Thank you for your participation with our protocols.

VOLUNTEER MEETING LOCATIONS:

- Stroke & Turn Judges, Scribes, and Runners – near the baby pool
- Ready Bench – under awning of Amenity Center, near pool
- Heat Ribbons/Ribbons – near computers (pool deck)
- Hospitality – at the Hospitality table, near the Silo
PARKING: The Pool/Amenity Center parking lot will be closed for safety reasons and available only for handicapped parking. Main parking is available along the streets – specifically Gatling Gun Lane, Warwick, and Buckingham Gate. Parking also is available in the Baranoff Elementary lot across Gatling Gun Lane.
ZOOS: All zoos will be located in the grassy area east of the pool (street-facing), unless the grass is too wet, and then we will have the zoo in the parking lot (chairs or extra blankets may be helpful). Please bring tarps or blankets for your children’s areas. It might not be a bad idea for you to bring at least one container of bug spray just in case of mosquitoes. While we have treated the grass, fire ants are always a possibility.
SPECTATORS: There is space around the outside of the pool fence on the east and west sides. Please bring your own folding chairs for use around the pool.
TRAFFIC FLOW: For this year only, the Entrance for swimmers and volunteers is the gate at the north (parking lot-facing) side of the pool. To Exit the pool area use the east (street-facing) side at the walk-through gate. Please see the Pool Layout below.
MEET FORMAT AND TIMING SYSTEM: We have a 5-lane pool and will follow the meet format dictated by the Bylaws (girls first): IM, Butterfly, Backstroke, Freestyle Relay, Freestyle, Breaststroke, Medley Relay. The neighborhood requires a hard stop for meets at 2:15pm. If the projected duration of the meet goes past 2:15pm once the heat sheets are seeded, we will propose some options at that time. We will be using a wireless timing system, with two timers per lane wireless and a third timer with a stopwatch in case of a hiccup with the wireless system. We expect this plan will make results fast and accurate.
CONCESSIONS: Concessions will be available at the Gazebo adjacent to the parking lot (north of the pool). We will have coffee and breakfast tacos, other refreshments, and lunch concessions. Kona Ice will be there ~10am with snow cones for sale. The concessions can be purchased using cash, credit/debit cards and Venmo.
HOSPITALITY: To reduce waste, all attendees and participants are encouraged to bring refillable water bottles, as water coolers will be available.
STREAMING: ?? I am working on a solution and will have an update on Friday.
We hope that we have provided you with enough information to make you comfortable. We are excited to have you all at our pool and are looking forward to a great meet. Let us know if we can help you in any way, or if you need additional information. If we have forgotten anything, please do not hesitate to ask!
