Welcome all the new Stingrays from Shady Hollow and beyond
Stingray Families with rookie athletes,
In the past years I always looked forward to our past presidents email to our new swimmers and to our swim team. Its always been encouraging and positive. With Covid that simple message just went away over the past year. I'm glad I can continue his legacy by posting his words. Thank you Geoff Lawson for the words of encouragement.
I want to welcome all the new Stingrays from Shady Hollow and beyond. We now have a couple of days of practice under our belts and I'll be willing to be that there are some children going to bed early and sleeping soundly. If you have been on the Stingrays or another swim team before (and many of you have) this stuff is old hat. For those of you who just joined us, I want to encourage you with the knowledge that every day gets easier. The pool gets warmer as we move inexorably towards another hot Texas summer. The kids get stronger, and their technique gets better. Your children will become confident swimmers in surprisingly short order.
For right now, if you have questions or comments you can email us or simply talk to us at the pool. You'll notice that some of us are wearing blue and white Stingrays ball caps(you can get them too). Just walk up and introduce yourself or at least don't be surprised if we walk up and introduce ourselves. We want to get to know you and your family. We want you to know that you are welcome here. We will help you, and we will absolutely need your help. When you see how a swim meet works, it will be clear how important it is for everyone to participate.
Since persistence is so important to everything our children will eventually accomplish I will once again leave you with my favorite quote on the subject:
