Update: Registration, Tryouts, Practice, Meets and Pool Clean Up
Hello Stingray Families!
As you all know, there has been a ton of movement around public activities the past week, making the Board's process in solidifying our swim season very exciting :). At this point, we will provide you with all the information we know, the things we feel confident about, and also those that are still up in the air. We ask that you be patient with us as we are providing information publicly as soon as we have it...and always know, it is subject to change at the Board's discretion based on updated news.
OUR GOAL: WE WANT AS MANY KIDS SWIMMING WITH THE STINGRAYS THIS SUMMER AS POSSIBLE!
Happy swimming,
Steve G. Hinojosa
Stingray Board President
Melinda Ferguson
Stingray Board Vice President
Registration:
o A reminder that non-resident, prior Stingray swimmers are open for registration on 5/22/2021 (Saturday). Shady Hollow residents in good standing with the HOA are always open for registration.
o Available spots per age group: The Board has been asked to post the available spots per age group by many families. We are unable to do that at this time as we are attempting to maximize each age group. In order to do this, depending on all registrations, if an age group only has 7 girls register but 33 boys want to register, we will allow that once all registrations are closed. (these numbers are for discussion purposes and should not be considered real)
o June 1 registration process for non-resident, non-prior Stingray swimmers: The registrations received June 1 through June 5 for swimmers in this category will be handled via a lottery. You will register your swimmer in our portal (https://shadyhollow.swimtopia.com/) and we will randomly draw on June 6th for all the remaining age group spots. You will be notified on June 6th by a Stingray Board member if you are part of the team or not.
Tryouts:
o Tryouts have been rescheduled to 5/23/2021 (Sunday) from 8:00 am to 11:00 am. All tryout spots have been filled at this time. We are not currently planning a second tryout for this season. If you were not able to sign up and your child is 6 and under, please consider registering them for our Junior Rays program.
Practices:
o Per the Shady Hollow HOA, there is currently a 75 person limit within the Capistrano Pool fence. As such, the Board is required to manage practices differently than in past years. We will ask parents to drop their kids off in the driveway at the pool and we will have a Coach there to assist them in getting in the gate and getting ready for practice. At the end of practice, a coach will escort the swimmers out the back gate and wait with them while their parents drive through to pick them up. WE ALSO KNOW KIDS SWIM BETTER WHEN PARENTS AREN'T AROUND! Trust us with them and allow us to teach them to swim :)
o We know how badly parents want to be at practices, we get it! With the HOA guidelines in place, we can only allow parents with a child requiring special needs attention inside the pool fence during practices. Parents are welcome to stay outside the fence and observe from there.
o Masks will not be required during practice for the swimmers or for coaches in the water (subject to change with Board discretion).
o The Board will provide the final practice schedule, with age distribution for maximum occupancy allowance, the week prior to practice beginning. Also, please note that the HOA has granted the Stingray team an extra hour of practice each day!
Meets:
o There was a date missing for a meet on the prior schedule provided. The Schedule below is the actual dates, who and where we will be swimming will continue to be a moving target and is subject to change at any time.
o The format of all swim meets will be set by the hosting team. When the Stingrays host, we set the format. When we swim away, we follow that team's guidelines.
o Home meets at Capistrano Pool will be a split meet (like Champs in previous years). We will host 10 and under in group 1, 11 and up in group 2. This grouping could change depending on registration numbers.
o We will separate the ready bench, some benches inside the pool fence, and some outside to allow us to accommodate the 75 person limit set by the HOA.
o The Board will provide guidelines on home meets, volunteers, family viewing, etc the week before our first meet.
-June 12th - Fun Meet, Stingray only at Capistrano Pool

-June 25th or 26th - Stingray at TSD (pending finalization)
